Sara was born February 2nd, 2002 in Littleton, CO and Andrew was born May 1st, 2002 in Wheatridge, CO, just 15 miles from each other! Sara then moved from Colorado to Maryland, Thailand, and then back to Maryland where she attended Urbana High School. She was heavily involved in track and field, cross country, swimming and triathlon. Andrew moved from Colorado to Illinois where most of his family is still located to this day! He attended Libertyville High School where he also was a swimmer and water polo player.
They both were accepted to the Naval Academy in 2020, shortly before the pandemic began. They reported to the Naval Academy for Plebe summer on June 29th, 2020 where they began the 6-week Plebe Summer basic training. Sara was in the 16th company her plebe year and Andrew was in the 22nd company. As fate would have it, Sara and Andrew were placed in the same Seamanship and Navigation class their plebe year. It would come as no surprise to most people who know us, Sara is far more studious than Andrew which is why he asked Sara to help him with the infamous rules of the rad exams we had throughout the semester. Those study sessions turned into a relationship that would stand the test of time. They went on their first date in late October of that year and began dating November 3rd, 2020. As most of you remember, 2020 and 2021 were filled with COVID lockdowns, ROM, and many weeks of being locked in our Bancroft rooms. Despite all of this Sara and Andrew were able to grow their relatively new relationship by meeting in classrooms to study and going for long walks around the Naval Academy grounds.
2021 started off as an interesting year for the new couple. Sara was moved to the 6th Company and Andrew to 13th Company where they would remain for the rest of their time at the Naval Academy. As Youngsters (Sophomores) they were given lots more freedom to get off the yard and explore the Annapolis area. Sara's parents lived in Frederick County, Maryland which made for a nice place to escape the craziness that is the Naval Academy. Andrew also introduced Sara to his amazing sponsor family, the Allisons, as they were his sponsors during his time at the Academy. They were quick to adopt Sara as she fit right in with their amazing family.
Second Class (Junior) year at the Academy was a tough year for them. Sara spent the first semester at West Point in New York on an Academy exchange program with the rival military academy. Andrew spent the second semester of Secondclass year on an international exchange program in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through the STEM program. There he was able to fully immersed in a completely different culture and meet some awesome new friends along the way! Andrew also had a home away from home there as his aunt and uncle along with their 4 children lived in the UAE. He spent a lot of time with the Molnars, eating Peters world renounced steaks and shrimp and keeping the kids occupied! Andrew returned the day before our Second Class Ring Dance where he was reunited with Sara and all of their friends after a long semester away.
Firstie (Senior) Year at the academy was a great year for Sara and Andrew! It started with Sara and Andrew finding out in November that they would both be joining the United States Marine Corps after graduation, Sara as a ground officer and Andrew as a pilot. Andrew was also the 13th Company Ballrun captain and was in charge of planning and executing the run from Annapolis, MD to Boston, MA. This run covered 456 miles and was carried out by over 200 current and prior members of the 13th Company. The second semester was even better than the first! It was full of senioritis and enjoying the time we had left with our friends before beginning our careers in the military.
Graduation week was one of the best weeks of our lives. We got to spend time with friends and family from all over the country and celebrate all the hard and awesome times we had at the Academy. We graduated on May 24th, 2024 and commissioned in to the US Marine Corps. We then embarked on a 19 day trip, visiting 7 countries and exploring parts of the world we had never seen! Once we retuned from our basket leave, we went back to the academy where we worked for the PE department before starting our basic Marine Corps training in Quantico, VA.
We both started The Basic School (TBS) on September 9th, 2024. This course was a 29-week training that tested us mentally and physically. We participated in various ranges, field exercises and navigation events that we were graded in and tested on. Both Sara and Andrew finished in the top 10% of their TBS class which contributed to Sara’s selection of being an Air Intelligence Officer. We graduated on April 11th, 2025 and had to go our separate ways for training in our respective jobs. Sara went to Virginia Beach for her school house until reporting to her current duty station in beautiful Beaufort, SC on August 15th, 2025. Andrew reported to Pensacola, FL to begin his flight school training for the Marine Corps. He graduated his first part of flight school on September 3rd, 2025 and moved to Corpus Christi, TX where he is currently at for Primary flight training.
Andrew proposed to Sara on June 20th, 2025 on Johnson's Beach in Pensacola, FL surrounded by family and friends. Despite what Sara says, she was completely caught off guard and didn't expect it!
We couldn't be happier and can't wait to celebrate with all of you on our wedding day! We love you all and hope to see you all very soon!!!
Lots of Love,
Sara & Andrew
